Help support Paul after a life changing surgery...

Hey everyone, my name is Paul Campbell from Atlanta, Georgia. The reason that I am trying to raise money here is to help out with medical bills, upcoming bills, and to help take some stress off of my wife.

I've worked in the nightclub industry here in Atlanta for over 20 years, starting as a lighting tech making $50 a night to eventually becoming the resident DJ and part of the management team at one of the hottest clubs in Buckhead for almost 8 years. (Hint: Swing Girl/Shark Bite Fishbowl/Midnight Madness). After we closed down, I spent the next years learning as much as I could about the ins and outs of how a nightclub was run. I did everything from bar backing to bartending, DJ, security, sound and lighting, and even cleaning or using a Shop-Vac to fix the men's clogged urinals in the restroom if needed. I worked at some of the top nightclubs in the city and was eventually hired on at a very well-known and very popular college bar/nightclub in the city where I worked as the resident DJ for quite a few years. I was eventually promoted back into a management role at the club while still working as a resident DJ. Coming out of the mandatory shutdown from COVID, I was immediately promoted into a full-time management position where I gained so much knowledge from the GM, which greatly helped me when I was given the GM position years later. Some of you know me in the nightclub industry as Paul or Mr. Paul, and some of you know me as DJ Eck-OO, and some of you might not know me at all and you're now getting to learn a little bit about me.

All the years that I was in the nightclub industry, I was truly blessed to have been able to work with some of the coolest people you could ever imagine meeting, and most of them have become lifelong friends to me. Unfortunately, starting in 2018, I've had to slowly step away from the business due to health issues. In 2018, I was admitted to the ER having pneumonia, sepsis, an internal GI bleed causing me to have emergency surgery going through three pints of blood, and had a wound on the bottom of my foot which I later found out was an ulcer due to being type 2 diabetic, which I was also diagnosed with at that same time. I had heard of diabetes, but until that point, I never thought it would affect my life in the way that it has. I quit drinking as soon as I found out I had type 2 diabetes and have not had a drink or drop of alcohol in a little over 7 years. I also quit smoking and started eating a very strict healthy diet. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough because over the last two and a half to three years, I've had over 15 surgeries on my left foot with multiple amputations due to ulcers caused by my diabetes. I was usually able to bounce back quite quickly from each surgery or amputation so I could get back to work because just like everybody else, I had bills to pay and I had a family to take care of.

I had the upper top half of my left foot amputated about a year and a half ago and was told that hopefully this would be the last of my surgeries, but unfortunately again, I caught another infection causing me to have a below-knee amputation of my left leg. For those of you that know me, I've always been a very active person, always on the go, and this is definitely a life-changing event for me and my family. I'm not one to ever want to seem like I'm begging or asking for help because in my mind, I'm still healthy enough to go to work, but with my latest amputation, this one's going to put me down for a while. I know times are tough for everyone out there right now, and to be honest, I feel kind of funny for making this, so if anything may or may not come from me making this page, I will feel blessed either way. One of the main reasons for me creating this is to help take some stress off of my wife's shoulders because I know she is overwhelmed right now with the bills, having to take care of me, and our furry kids. By that, I mean our 80 lb German Shepherd puppy and our cats that we rescue and foster. I feel bad because I'm so limited to what I can do until I heal from my surgery and eventually get fitted for my new prosthesis.

I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart who is taking the time out of their day to read my story, and whether you can make life for me and my family a little bit easier right now or not, I thank you either way.
Yours Truly,
Paul Campbell "DJ Eck-OO"
