My name is Pam. I am a breast cancer survivor, 8 years now. I lost my husband 2 years ago and have been struggling ever since. He was the main breadwinner. I have to maintain the house and our bills now and have been managing to do so over the past 2 years. I have sold most everything I could during this time. I also have a 94-year-old mother who lives in her own house, to take care of at the same time. I have spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disorder, and have been diagnosed with several autoimmune diseases since cancer treatment, including RA, PBC, and diabetes. I now have pancreatic cancer and I have had Whipple surgery at MUSC and start chemo next week.Pathology says stage 3. I have not been able to work since the beginning of the year. I check on mom when I can. Recovering from this big surgery has and still is challenging. I have been applying and being denied disability for 2 years now. These new medical diagnoses have put me down. Any savings I had is disappearing quickly being out of work on top of the doctors , co-pays, and prescriptions. I am in need of financial assistance as quickly as I can. I need to be healthy to take care of my mom and get through chemo for the next 6 months, which is turning into more time being as I keep having to pause chemo, because my blood cell counts get too low, so still have over 4 rounds to go at least. I am also having complications from the whipple surgery.Putting me into extreme pain. Most of the time. Pain management is working with me, but it's not going too well either. Anything helps.
