We all know Nick as a fun-loving soul with a big heart and an even bigger laugh.
Nick is the guy that will show up to help at the drop of a dime and give you the
shirt off his back even when he doesn't have one to give. He has been there for
so many people in desperate times. Sadly, Nick suffered a devastating freak
accident at home on Tuesday, July 30th, 2025. He was rushed to the ER, where
doctors discovered he had broken both legs and knees. Nick was rushed into
surgery at Holyoke hospital. His injuries have left him unable to walk, he requires
24/7 support. He remained at Holyoke Hospital recovering for a week and has
now been transferred to Weldon rehab where he will remain while he has a long
road of recovery ahead. Nick cannot walk. The estimated recovery time for an
individual with Nicks injuries is 6 months to a year.
What makes things worse: Nick has joint custody of his 12-year-old daughter
Leila, with an every-other week schedule in place. Nick is a single dad. Due to
this accident Nick has not been able to spend much time with her which he
considers to be the most precious time there is. This has only added a broken
heart to the list of things that need to heal. Navigating a new schedule, trying to
get in short visits while he recovers, with no real end in sight, is the hardest part
for him.
How Your Donations Help:
Nick faces a long road ahead. The next steps include inpatient acute
rehabilitation, followed by ongoing physical and occupational therapies, as well
as continued follow-ups with specialists. He’ll also be unable to work during this
time, making support for basic living expenses critical.
Our goal is to remove any financial anxiety he may have for the next six to twelve
months, until Nick is able to heal and start working again.
Where Your Donations are Going:
-Living Expenses: Mortgage, food, and utilities while Nick gets back on
his feet.
-Family Support: Transportation and other costs.
-Home Health Aide: Temporary in-home support during early recovery.
-Medical Bills: Covers critical care and medical expenses during his
hospitalization.
-Transportation: Rides to and from medical appointments.
We are hopeful that he will make a full recovery, but the situation remains
tenuous—both physically and monetarily. Nick has always shown up for his family and friends with loyalty, humor, and heart. Now it's our turn to show up for him when
he needs us most! Please donate what you can.
