Stand by Nathan and His Family

hi everyone, my name is Amanda and I have known Anna(Nathan’s wife) since I was in grade school. I went to highschool with Nathan.

Nathan was an off duty police officer on 11/20/24 and was driving 3 of his 4 children to school. A female suspect almost rammed into his car, nearly sideswiping his car and running him off the road as she illegally passed him and then proceeded to drive 35 to 45 miles per hour over the speed limit endangering all the motorists around her while continuing to illegally pass and tailgate other motorists. The speeds were admitted by the suspect and family members.

Nathan continued on his route to take his children to school and later observed the vehicle and attempted to keep eyes on the vehicle to get uniformed officers to contact the suspect. Before he could do so the suspect abruptly stopped in the middle of the roadway, exited her vehicle and began threatening him with having a firearm.

At this point Nathan attempted to reasonably detain the suspect until uniformed officers arrived. Nathan contacted 911 as soon as practicable and identified himself several times as an off duty police officer but the suspect did not care. Despite trying to do what was right and legally justified under the laws of his state, Nathan was fired, charged, and civilly sued. He had a career with awards, promotions, and accolades. He was known to work events with kids and often was seen letting lines of children sit in his patrol vehicle and using the lights and sirens. His department still turned their back on him.

Nathan was known at his department for being dependable, completing reliable investigations, and has no write ups or negative remarks. He was a Field Training Officer for which he received an employee of the quarter award. He led his department in DUI arrests, among several other categories.

Despite this he still lost his job and is battling multiple legal battles without the income of his career. He cannot get a job in his fields of experience due to the accusation against him, not even a conviction. He has run out of retirement accounts and has only been able to get minimum wage jobs despite having good experience.

He needs support to continue to feed his family, pay his legal expenses, and not lose his home while waiting a year to get any vindication for this miscarriage of justice. It has only been the generosity of others that has helped thus far to make mortgage and utility payments as he has worked two jobs totaling 60hrs a week to make half the income he did less than a year ago. Thank you for your consideration and support, God bless you.
