Hi friends + family,
Natalie is still suffering with repeated episodes of pleural and now pericardial effusion (fluid build-up around the lungs and heart). She has seen Doctors at Henry Ford Downtown and U of M and has been hospitalized at least once a month over the last ten months, spending a total of around 30 days in the hospital. She has been tested for every auto immune disease and screened for cancer and has Doctors stumped. She was most recently tested for Lyme disease and the test came back negative.
They have no diagnosis or cause for this fluid build up around her lungs and heart. The fluid builds up and becomes very painful, making it very hard for her to breathe and making her extremely uncomfortable. In addition to this, Natalie is around 28 weeks pregnant.
She was admitted to the hospital again today after being discharged last week. She is in severe pain and we are very worried about her and her unborn baby. The Doctors may make the decision to deliver the baby early in order to try some medications that help with the build up of fluid around her heart and lungs. We pray that she remains healthy enough to carry the baby full term. As of now the baby has not become negatively affected, but if either Natalie or the baby's health becomes more concerning they will have to deliver him early.
Through all of this, John is doing his best to work as many hours as he can while caring for Natalie and their three year old son, David. The hospital bills continue to mount and the stress of the of the illness paired with the debts is weighing on their little family. If family and friends would like to help them get through this trying time by contributing, I know they would be forever grateful.
