Stand by Mike: Overcoming Cancer Together
Donation protected
UPDATE AS OF JANUARY 15TH
Mike did end up having his surgery yesterday. The surgery was to resection the colon and remove the mass. The mass was able to be removed and they are hoping that it hasn't spread elsewhere in the past few weeks since he was last tested. Within the week they should receive a pathology report stating what stage the cancer is and what they will do going forward as far as chemo is concerned. Mike has been off of work for a month now and Rhianna is only able to work 2 days a week because of her having to take on all of the responsibilities of 7 kids and their sports and extra curricular activities. This gofundme isnt only for medical expenses, its to help their family actually survive through this. Food, gas as he is in Midland recovering, and bills and daily expenses. Unfortunately Mike does not have the option of being paid while being off of work. He will have to be off for at least another 6 weeks and possibly way longer because of chemo. He is in a lot of pain right now and has been and its been a struggle emotionally mentally and physically for their family. Yes the surgery is done but with that being said, Mike cannot help with rides or taking care of the kids at all now while recovering. Anything that you can do will help. Sharing, praying for strength and healing, good vibes, and of course any donation helps. Thank you for your time. Also I don't know why it used Gillespie as my last name, but its Reed. If you need to contact me on Facebook for anymore information.
I am reaching out to our generous community to help a family that truly deserves to feel the absolute most love and support. Mike and Rhianna have a beautiful family of 8 that are all strongly active in the community. Mike was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and struggles with the symptoms and pain daily, but remains strong and positive. He is scheduled to have surgery soon and a further treatment plan will follow. It is unknown when he will be able to return to work once the treatment plan starts. It is a very scary reality when you have children and they are all active in sports and dance. They are worried about how this will impact their children, both mentally and financially. If you know this family, you know that they are the most loving, caring, giving, dedicated parents. Not only to their own kids but to their children’s friends/family as well. They are always running around and supporting their children at their games, lessons, dance, etc. You would never be able to tell that they have so much on their plates because they are still trying to help others, and it’s always with a smile on their faces. I know this is a devastating time for them and I really want them to feel some relief and possibly be able to spend some more time at home with their kids, especially during the holidays and knowing that Mike will be having surgery soon. So please help us by praying, sharing, and donating if you can. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for taking the time to read and share this.
