Support for Mike Barto in His Fight Against Cancer
Our dear coworker and friend, Mike Barto, is facing one of the toughest battles of his life. Mike was recently diagnosed with cancer, and while chemotherapy has shown promise, it has also caused serious complications with his lungs. This journey has taken a heavy toll—not only on his health but also on his finances and peace of mind.
Mike has worked in multiple areas within the Transportation Department over the years, spending most of his time in the Movement Bureau. Even when the work was stressful, he always tried to keep a positive outlook. He was quick to crack a joke and always tried to make people laugh. Most recently, he found great enjoyment in his role in project planning.
Outside of work, Mike is a proud father of three children and recently became a grandfather to three beautiful grandkids—a role that brings him immense joy and motivation during this difficult time. He also shares a special bond with his beloved golden retriever, who’s never far from his side.
Unfortunately, as Mike continues treatment, he’s running out of sick time. He had planned to reach 30 years of service, but due to the severity of his condition, he may be facing an unexpected early retirement. This sudden shift has placed a significant emotional and financial strain on both Mike and his family.
We’re asking for your support to help ease this burden so Mike can focus on what truly matters: healing and spending precious time with his family and loved ones.
Every donation—no matter the size—will go directly toward helping Mike cover medical expenses and essential living costs during this incredibly difficult time. And even if you're unable to give, simply sharing this page can make a big impact.
Let’s come together as coworkers, friends, and a community to lift Mike up and remind him that he’s not alone in this fight.
Thank you for your generosity, prayers, and support.
