If you know me and my family, you know Chuck Buchalter. Even if you haven't met him, you do because he's been a part of our family since he and I met in 1st grade, 42 years ago. So if you know me, you know Chuck and vice versa. Chuck and Michelle got married in 2011. Dakota is older than I want to admit, and Braeden, my Godson, is about to turn 17 and going into his senior year of High School.
In early 2025 Michelle went in for a regular checkup. She mentioned having experienced some numbness in her foot. A scan showed a spot in her lung. A biopsy revealed stage 4 cancer. Another scan showed a tumor in her brain. After the tumor was removed, she was experiencing severe pain in her back. Another scan found a tumor in her spine.
Aggressive radiation has shrunk that tumor, and the Dr. feels good about the margins where the tumor was removed from her brain. She is partway through chemo. There is a long road ahead. More scans and follow up scans. More chemo, and more late nights. And the bills are racking up.
Chuck works hard. Treatment costs more. It sucks that hardworking people have to ask others to help them pay for something out of their control. That we can't take care of our sick without enriching insurance executives and pharmaceutical companies at the cost of our futures. No one should have to worry about losing their house, or if they can pay for their kids to go to school because someone gets sick.
And here we are. Our family needs your help. Please give as generously as you can. We all have times when we need community and family. This is one of those times for us, and we hope that you can chip in and share this. If you can't chip in and can share it, that would be great as well.
Thank you. We appreciate any way that you can help and will keep you posted.
