I never imagined that the day after my birthday, I’d be fighting for my life in a hospital bed. It started as what I thought was a simple flu. I tried everything—IV vitamin therapy, holistic treatments, even a trip to a walk-in clinic where I was prescribed steroids and antibiotics. But instead of getting better, my condition spiraled out of control. The medication I received wasn’t the right one, and my body began to shut down.

Struggling to breathe, I had no choice but to call an ambulance. When I arrived at the hospital, the doctor’s words sent chills through me:

“You’re too late. Don’t say a single word—your lung isn’t moving at all. You’re in critical danger. You can’t afford to waste even a breath.”

In that moment, I realized how close I was to losing this battle. My oxygen levels had plummeted to 86%, then dropped below 80%. My right lung had collapsed, and my body was barely holding on. I watched the urgency in the doctors’ and nurses’ eyes as they fought to keep me alive, hooking me up to powerful, high-dose antibiotics and life-saving medication and machines. Every moment is critical as they work tirelessly to stabilize
