Hello, my name is Christine Martin, a resident of Todos Santos since 2020.

I am raising funds for Margarita Altamirano, a 57-year-old woman who has spent 38 years living and working in Todos Santos, B.C.S. Many of you know her as the lady who does the recycling on Saturdays. I've gotten to know Margarita and her grandson who helps her. She has a big heart and has been suffering in pain for a very long time. Yet, even in the hottest of weather and difficult living conditions of her home, she shows up to earn what little she can for her expenses.

She has always been a caregiver—first to her mother, then to her brother with disabilities. She's worked hard her entire life, supported her community, and shown up for those in need (she recently took in 5 pups abandoned flea infested and starving on the roadside).

Today, she is facing an overwhelming medical crisis, and is humbly asking for your help. Once the goal is met, I will transfer the money to Margarita. Her most dire need is a biopsy (read below).

Why I Need Your Support

I’ve been diagnosed with multiple chronic and life-threatening conditions, and the public health system is not giving me timely access to care. I urgently need a thyroid biopsy, ongoing specialist visits, and daily medications to manage my conditions.

Without your help, I cannot afford the care that could potentially save my life.

Hola, me llamo Christine Martin y resido en Todos Santos desde 2020.

Estoy recaudando fondos para Margarita Altamirano, una mujer de 57 años que lleva 38 viviendo y trabajando en Todos Santos, Columbia Británica. Muchos de ustedes la conocen como la señora que recicla los sábados. Conozco a Margarita y a su nieto, quien la ayuda. Tiene un gran corazón y lleva mucho tiempo sufriendo. Sin embargo, incluso en el clima más caluroso y las difíciles condiciones de vida de su hogar, se esfuerza por ganar lo poco que puede para cubrir sus gastos.

Siempre ha cuidado de su madre, primero de su hermano con discapacidad. Ha trabajado duro toda su vida, apoyado a su comunidad y se ha solidarizado con los necesitados (recientemente acogió a cinco cachorros abandonados, infestados de pulgas y hambrientos, en la carretera).
