A Story for Lydia: A Beacon of Light
In every circle, there’s that one person who never hesitates to show up when you need them most. For our group, that person is Lydia.
Lydia has always been the first to answer a call for help. Whether it was dropping everything to be there for someone, organizing beautiful decor for life’s multiple celebrations, or simply offering a listening ear, Lydia never asked for anything in return. Her compassion was endless, her spirit unshakable.
But now, the strongest among us is facing her own battle—and she’s doing it largely on her own.
Lydia has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer, the kind that doesn’t just challenge the body but tests every inch of one’s will. And as if the physical toll weren’t enough, she’s also balancing life with no partner to lean on, she faces the emotional and financial weight of it all alone.
She doesn’t talk much about the burden—never has. That’s just Lydia. Quiet strength. But even strength has limits.
Medical bills, treatments, transportation, having to take off work once she undergoes surgical aspects of her healing—it all adds up. Lydia, who has given so much of herself to others, now needs us. Not just to say we’re here for her, but to show it.
This is our chance to lift up the person who has so often lifted us. Every donation, no matter how small, is a thread in the net that can catch her before she falls. If you’ve ever been touched by her kindness, inspired by her resilience, or comforted by her warmth, please consider giving something back.
Because Lydia shouldn’t have to fight this battle alone.
Let’s show her the power of the same love she’s shared so freely with us.
