In the sleepy town of Bedford, lives a woman named Linda. Honestly, she needs no introduction as she is known by many and loved by all who've met her. But just in case you haven't had the pleasure: this is Linda.
She is a helper. A giver. A servant. And a friend. She wouldn’t dare call herself a hero (because true heroes don't), but to many of us, that's exactly what she is.
I first crossed paths with Linda six years ago, when I lived just a sidewalk away from where she spent her days caring for a woman who was like a grandmother to me. Since then, I’ve watched her continue to love her community in radical ways.
When a baby needed a home? Linda opened hers. A neighbor lacked groceries? She dropped off a Walmart bag full. When a new mother was struggling with addiction? Linda opened her arms to them.
Time after time, Linda’s life has read like a story of quiet heroism. She has given what she had, shared what she could, and poured herself out for the sake of others—even in seasons when she herself was in need.
Now, it’s our turn to come alongside Linda and hold her up as she walks through some of her most challenging days.
On September 21st, Linda suffered a stroke. She was taken to the ED, where she was admitted. But the following day, she had another stroke—as a result, she has lost all mobility in her left side. At this time, she cannot walk or sit unassisted. She is currently in the hospital and will hopefully be transferred to rehab in the near future. Although insurance is choosing to be difficult about said transfer.
While this situation has mountains of hard, it also holds substantial hope! Linda believes that with lots of prayer, paired with crazy-hard work, she can recover and return home to continue caring for her family, which includes her husband, whom she is a full-time caregiver to.
Much to Linda’s dismay, Ann (Linda’s DIL) and I are starting this GoFundMe to help with both monthly and medical expenses as they are piling up in plenty. Please consider giving to help a true modern-day hero as she embarks on what will be a long road to recovery—your support will not only ease some of the financial burden, but remind her that she's surrounded by people who believe in her strength and love her dearly.
Thank you so much,
Renee and Ann
