Stand by Lily: Help with Her Heart Surgery

I am Jessica, the mother of Lily (Lils). Lily has 2 siblings, 2 older brothers. Lily has been seen by so many doctors from the children’s hospital. Lily was seen at the pediatrician's office for a sick visit. They discovered she had a heart murmur. She went to a cardiologist, had an EKG and an echo done. They then discovered Lily has a hole in the wall of her heart. It is about 18mm, which is a little under 3/4 of an inch. The left side of her heart is enlarged. The right side blood is spilling into the left side and then flowing back out the right.

My daughter is 22 months old. She will be having an open-heart surgery. In the meantime, her secondary insurance dropped her. So I will have a massive amount of medical bills.

Lily will be in the ICU for 3-4 days. She will then go to her own room for 7-10 days. I will also be taking a month off of work, if not longer, for her. I’ve never done this sort of thing. I am a very proud person. As a single mother of 3, this is going to be hard.

Her surgery is June 16.
