Hello, my name is Laurel, and my sister Kristi on 08/10/25 was admitted to UC Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado for emergency surgery. On her first emergency surgery she was in the OR for 5 hours and had a partial Gasterectmy and a blockage removed and adhesions. Her surgery was complicated by her being on Methotrexate for years and it made her tissue rip easily. After this surgery she was put in a medical coma, and her abdominal wound was left open. She was on the respirator at this time. She then had 3 more abdominal surgeries and on the 4 th surgery she had the rest of her stomach removed all but a few inches of her stomach that was healthy and attached her pouch from previous gastric bypass surgery to her small intestine and he hand stitched them together because of how fragile her tissue is on her organs. At this time she is on TPN and Lipids two drains and her abd wound remains open and every 6 hours dressings are done. The trauma doctor have told us it’s a long road to recovery. We are thankful for all the prayers.
