Stand by Kim: The news of having thyroid cancer

Donation protected
  • Hello everyone! My name is Kim, and I am 38 years old. On April 1st, I went to the hospital because I was having trouble breathing. They told me I had Flu A, and with me having asthma, it was triggering my breathing. I stayed there till they sent me home at 5 am. I went home and started having trouble with my breathing again, so I went back to the hospital on April 2. They did some more tests and realized that I didn’t just have a bad case of Flu A, but I also had a bad case of pneumonia. They ended up keeping me. On April 3, I had an appointment with Bennington to get a CT scan on my neck because I have had a lump on the left side of my neck. My boyfriend explained that to them, and they said they would do the CT scan since I would be staying there. The outcome of the CT scan was that it is thyroid cancer and that the cancer has moved to my lymph nodes! I am so scared. I lost my job due to being in the hospital and wasn’t able to get in touch with them till I got out, but they moved on and found someone to replace me. This has been such a struggle and so many emotions. So at the moment, I have no income at the moment. I have doctor’s appointments in Dartmouth to get blood work, a body scan to see if the cancer has moved to any other part of my body, and to talk to the doctor about scheduling my surgery. I am reaching out to anyone that can help.If anyone can help, please, I need it more than anything right now, and I can’t miss any of my appointments.
