Stand by Jonathan's Fight for His Heart

My name is Jonathan Henson, and I am a resilient single father of four kids, the oldest of whom is 18 and recently spread his wings by moving out. Although I was diagnosed with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in October, I remain optimistic as I navigate this new chapter. The results of my recent heart MRI have given me a renewed sense of purpose, and I am determined to overcome the challenges that lie ahead, including a blown-out aneurysmal apex and significant fibrosis, scar quantification 46% on my heart.

On December 30, 2024, I will be taking a significant step towards reclaiming my health by having a defibrillator installed. While this surgery will require me to take a temporary break from work, I am committed to continuing to work as much as possible throughout this process. I am also looking forward to seeking specialized care in New Orleans, where I will undergo further testing to determine the best course of treatment for my future, which may include a heart transplant.

Through this journey, I am determined to remain a rock for my kids and to continue providing for them, even in the face of uncertainty. I am hopeful that with the support of loved ones and the kindness of strangers, I will be able to raise enough money to keep my kids taken care of and our bills paid while I focus on my recovery. Any help will be greatly appreciated and will serve as a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope.
