Stand by John and Kelsey During Recovery
Donation protected
We're raising funds for my amazing brother-in-law John and his equally amazing wife Kelsey. On Saturday, July 12, John was working on clearing a huge fallen tree from their property, not far from Ann Arbor, Michigan, when a branch fell out of the tree and knocked him off a ladder, down onto the sidewalk.
John has broken and fractured bones in his arm, wrist, ribs, pelvis, and foot. Thankfully he was wearing a helmet or the outcome could have been much worse! He had surgery the following Monday to fix a bone in his arm that was both dislocated and broken. It went well, and the specialist is hopeful for a good recovery.
John will have a "boot" cast on his broken foot, and use a walker for the next 2-3 months. Navigating their two story 1850s-era house is expected to be difficult. During this time John will be out of work and Kelsey (who has been dealing with some shoulder issues of her own) will be caring for him. There are a number of things are there home that Kelsey is not currently up to managing by herself but that will need to be taken care of before John is back on his feet. Kelsey says that John tends to heal well, like a starfish, so hopefully that will help!
John is funny, smart, and loving. He loves to learn and teach about science, he's an incredibly skilled Lego designer and builder, and he and Kelsey are utterly devoted to their nieces and nephews. They're both people with huge hearts who are always thinking of others - in just a few days they've already charmed and befriended their medical staff. Every gift that helps sustain them through this difficult time is a step closer to their being able to pick up their lives and start helping others again.
