Stand by Jenny and Mookie

On April 2nd, my brother-in-law, Mookie, suffered a massive stroke while working in Madison, Wisconsin. As an owner-operator truck driver, he was preparing to pick up loads when he was found unresponsive in his truck.

That heartbreaking call came to my sister-in-law, Jenny, who immediately dropped everything leaving work in Asheville, NC and rushed to fly out of Raleigh, NC to be by his side in Wisconsin.

Over the past few weeks, Mookie has shown small but hopeful signs of improvement, but he remains unconscious and is still fighting for his life.

While Jenny stays by his side, she’s not only carrying the emotional weight of this crisis but also the financial burden. She is paying out of pocket for hotel accommodations (over $100 a night), Ubers to and from the hospital, food, and ongoing monthly bills back home. On top of it all, Jenny is managing two households(due to their careers), including caring for their minor child while balancing the demands of their careers and this devastating situation.

With the ongoing love and support of her mother-in-law and sister-in-law by her side in Wisconsin, Jenny is staying strong through this unimaginable time. But the financial strain continues to grow.
