If you’ve ever been to a local benefit dinner, a fundraiser, or even just a get-together where the food made you feel at home — chances are, Jennifer Luong was part of it. She’s the one who cooks, serves, organizes, and comforts. The one who checks on you when no one else does. The one who never asks for help but always gives it.
Now, she needs us.
Last week, she was the victim of a brutal and unprovoked assault — all because she spoke up to defend another survivor of abuse. She was attacked for doing what was right. For standing up. For refusing to stay silent.
She can’t share all the details due to legal limitations, but what she can say is this: she was targeted, cornered, and assaulted for protecting a friend and speaking truth — and she has the injuries to prove it. The attack left her battered, bruised, and shaken, but not broken.
Because of her injuries, she’s been unable to work. She’s now falling behind on bills, rent, and basic necessities — and still trying to heal emotionally and physically. The same woman who’s always first to volunteer, first to cook, and first to check in on others now finds herself in need of support.
We’re asking for donations to help cover:
Lost income due to time off work
Medical expenses and recovery needs
Rent and bills while she heals
This woman has poured her heart into our community for years. She’s helped feed grieving families, cooked at benefit dinners, and given her time, love, and strength without ever expecting anything in return. It’s our turn to step up for her.
No one should have to face something like this alone — especially not someone who’s spent her life lifting others up.
If you can give, please do. If not, please share. And please, believe survivors. Stand with those who speak up.
Let’s show her that her voice matters — and that we’ve got her back.
