Funeral fund for Ronald “Goober” Garner

This is hard. Thinking about the people you love dying is hard. Asking for help is hard. Watching your loved one slip away a little more each day often almost unbearable. But yet, here we are. I’m writing on behalf of the family of Ronald “Goober” Garner and ask for help as Goober’s battle is coming to an end. As most of you know Goober was just released from the hospital last Monday 1/20/25 after a long 18 days. He came home on hospice and has to have around the clock care. Kelly is currently out of work and living with them to help care for him. Goober has always been the caretaker of the family, taking care of Sandy, the bills and everything around the house. The goal of this GoFundMe campaign is to try to raise as much money as possible to alleviate financial worries during the last days of Goober’s life. They are not the type of people to ask for anything but really could use our help right now. Goober’s health is declining quickly and his time with us is quite limited. The ultimate outcome will not be what anyone wished for, but my hope is that with this fundraiser, we can take some additional stress off of the family as they spend what time is left with him. There will be funeral costs as well, and we want them to be able to just focus on Goober and not have to worry about the immediate future. These kinds of requests are immensely difficult to write. You struggle to find exactly the right words in the hopes that you can convince someone to open their heart and to give, choosing and discarding those words over and over. How do you express on a page how important, how amazing or how loved a person is? How do you convince someone to sacrifice something, whether it's the time it takes to donate or giving up the fancy Starbucks latte to do it, to help out another human being? I really hope that something I've said here, or more likely something he’s done for you, has moved you to the decision to help.
