Stand by Gina: Navigating Health and Hardship

Hello! My name is Sam. I am starting this fundraiser for my mother. Over the last couple of years, my mother has come across some medical issues, starting with cancer in 2022 and 2023. We shortly found out that she had two masses on both of her adrenal glands, which were suspected to be cancerous. In May of 2024, she had to undergo surgery to get both adrenal glands removed, leaving her adrenally insufficient and making her dependent on steroids to regulate her hormones. Since having them removed, she has had multiple adrenal crises, leaving her in the hospital.

On March 5, 2025, she arrived at work and wasn't feeling well. She began going into adrenal crisis, passing out multiple times and bottoming out. She was rushed to the hospital and continued to pass out, have heart rate spikes, and fluctuations in blood pressure. My mother ended up spending 11 days in the hospital, running many different tests on her brain, heart, and other things. They released her on March 16th, still passing out with little to no answers on why this was still happening.

My mother now needs constant monitoring due to her condition. She is now unable to work and has no leave due to her long hospital visit. She has many doctor's appointments coming up with neurology, cardiology, and her endocrinologist. She has changes in her frontal lobe in her brain and is suspected to have a blockage in her heart. We still have no answers to why she is so ill and passing out frequently.

My mother is a hard worker and has always provided everything for my family, considering my father is disabled with Muscular Dystrophy and unable to work. We are now struggling, trying to figure out how to pay our bills on top of paying for all of the medical expenses that come along with her illness. Anything would help our family and my mother Gina through this tough time, even sharing it with friends and family.

A little about my mother Gina: She is 53 years young with an upcoming birthday on May 3. She is the most kind and giving person you could ever meet. Everyone knows they can always come to her for help, and she will always figure out a way to help. She is a certified medical assistant and has been working with Anne Arundel Dermatology for over 15 years now.
