Help Francine Through Her Recovery!
We're starting this fundraiser for our dear friend Francine, who has had a really tough run with work injuries and now faces multiple surgeries. As a result, she’ll likely be out of work for nearly a year.
If you know Francine, you know she’s an absolute powerhouse—strong, determined, and always the first to help others. That’s why asking for help isn’t easy for her, so we’re stepping up to do it for her.
Francine has been on State Disability Insurance (SDI), but she recently received notice that she has reached the limit of her payments—leaving her without any income. She’s working with the SDI office to see if they accurately calculated her benefits (film industry work is complicated!), but that process takes time and isn’t guaranteed to bring a resolution. Even if her disability payments restart, they won’t be enough to cover her living expenses. After six months of making ends meet, her savings are gone, and her credit cards are maxed out.
What’s Happening Now
Francine is currently recovering from knee surgery and has upcoming rotator cuff surgeries on both shoulders. The first is scheduled for February 11, with the second to follow as soon as she’s recovered enough. The combined recovery time means she won’t be able to work for at least another six months.
In the meantime, she needs help covering rent, food, and bills so she can focus on healing. Every dollar raised will go directly to Francine to help her stay housed and keep up with essential expenses while she recovers.
How You Can Help
Her basic monthly expenses—including rent, utilities, insurance, car payments, credit card payments and groceries—add up to about $3,500 a month. Living in LA isn’t cheap, and these are just the essential costs to keep a roof over her head and food on the table while she recovers. She’s doing everything she can to manage her finances, but with medical bills piling up and no income, she needs support to get through this recovery period.
If you can donate, any amount helps! Every little bit gets her closer to stability during this tough time.
If you can’t donate, there are other ways to support her!
This year has started off rough for so many in LA—with the fires, lost work, and financial struggles affecting many of us. If you’re unable to help financially, there are still meaningful ways to pitch in, like:
- Giving rides to medical appointments
- Helping with errands like grocery shopping or picking up prescriptions
- Dropping off a meal or helping with meal prep
- Lending a hand around the house, especially in the early days post-surgery
We have created a spreadsheet you can find HERE where you can sign off by donating your time.
Check her social media @sheiselectric for updates on how to help in person, or reach out to her directly.
Thank you for anything you can do—whether it’s a donation, a ride, or just spreading the word. Let’s come together and support Francine the way she’s always shown up for others.
Thank you so much from Eloise & Tanya
