Stand by Evan: Overcoming Respiratory Failure
Donation protected
Our son Evan is a 6 year old non-verbal and epileptic boy on the autism spectrum. He has had more on his plate during his short time on earth, than most have in the entirety of a whole lifespan. Recently he has suffered respiratory failure after being sedated for an MRI at Boston Childrens Hospital, for a routine check up for his seizures. We thought we were going to lose our little boy, but he's not out of harms way just yet. He was sedated and on a respirator that was breathing for him at Hasbro Pediatric ICU. We were told that we should start a gofundme to help with paying bills and expenses while we are out of work, while Evan is at the ICU on the respirator and after while we are following up with rehabilitation care. We were not fond of the idea because people automatically assume it's a scam or you're just asking for a handout. But the truth of the matter is we are of meager means, and our weekly pay (that we are not able to make) would normally go out to bills as soon as it comes in. This means bills pile up quickly when we are not working. Evan is now off the ventilator, but he will still be at Hasbro in recovery. We appreciate all the help you can give during the scariest time our little family has ever gone through. UPDATE: Evan has COME HOME!!!! We appreciate your continued support while we get Evan on the road to recovery. It will be a tricky rehabilitation, and Evan has has still been experiencing breathing, motion and neurological complications, but our boy is a fighter!
