Hello, my name is Grace Patrick, and I am raising money for my mother’s medical testing/bills. My mother, Emma, was diagnosed with myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN), a type of bone marrow cancer, and needs further testing to figure out which specific MPN she has (there are 3 different kinds). Due to financial problems, she has not been able to get further testing so that she can begin treatment. She works at a local high school and there has been construction going on to build the new school. Once construction began in 2022, she began to get sick. After being sick for two years, she finally was referred to an allergist who found abnormal blood work and referred her to a hemotologist who performed a bone marrow biopsy and diagnosed her with bone marrow cancer. Time passed as she was trying to save money for medical treatment, but then she became a single mother after her ex-husband abandoned her on January 31st, 2025 without saying a word, and left her with the burden of paying rent, utilities, medical bills, and much more while also carrying the task of being a single mother of 3 children. Ever since, all of that money has gone towards keeping our home. She no longer has a way to save money for medical testing/bills due to the fact that all money she earns as a high school teacher, goes towards our home and her providing for her 3 children. The money that I’m raising would allow her to go to MD Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston, TX, the only MPN specialist in Texas, to receive additional testing to figure out which specific bone marrow cancer she has so she can finally receive treatment. The funds would help with travel expenses, medical testing, and the first month of drug treatment. We have been told that the first line medication for treatment is $5000 a month.
