We are reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your support for a truly remarkable man — Elmer Waybright.
Elmer has dedicated his life to serving others. As a skilled general contractor, painter, and rock layer, his hands built, repared and remodeled many homes in Highland County & surrounding areas. But his greatest service was as a Volunteer Fire Chief, a role he proudly held for over 33 years in Highland County. He’s answered countless calls and put the safety of others before his own. Rain or shine, day or night, Elmer was always there when someone needed help.
Today, Elmer needs our help.
He is currently battling stage 4 lung disease and relies on oxygen full time. Just days after celebrating his 80th birthday, Elmer suffered an unimaginable loss — the sudden passing of his beloved wife of 39 years, Carol Terry Waybright. The emotional and financial toll has been heavy. As he adjusts to life without his partner of so many years, the costs of living expensives—medical bills, utilities, food, and basic necessities—have become difficult to manage on a fixed income.
Carol and Elmer were both devoted Christians who spent their lives rooted in faith, family, and service.
Elmer’s daughter has now become his full-time caregiver, dedicating her days to making sure he is comfortable and cared for. But the financial burden has grown overwhelming.
If Elmer has ever impacted your life — whether through his work, his service, or his unwavering kindness — please consider giving what you can. Every donation, no matter how small, will help ease the burden and allow Elmer to stay in the home he shared with his wife, surrounded by the memories and the community he’s served for so long.
We also ask for your prayers, shares, and words of encouragement as Elmer and his family walk through this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and for standing by a true hometown hero.
