I'm Linda Sewall and I'm raising funds for my good friend, Dede Bushneck.
Dede is a professional horsewoman who has been training and showing carriage horses and ponies for over 40 years. She's taught numerous clients, including me, to drive and show in recognized and local carriage shows. She's an American Driving Society judge and is active in the Morgan Horse and Welsh Pony communities in North Carolina and nationally.
Dede leases a farm in Sanford, NC where she maintains her own 5 welsh ponies and a number of boarders. She coaches her students at shows throughout the eastern United States. Summer show season is her busiest time of year.
Everything changed in a flash on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Dede was on her way to pick up feed when a trailer broke away from the truck that was towing it, crossed the centerline and crashed into her truck, head on.
The driver towing the trailer didn't stop. It turned out that he is an unlicensed driver who was driving a borrowed truck towing a borrowed trailer.
Dede sustained serious injuries that required surgery. She is still hospitalized. Her truck was totaled. Her recovery is expected to take many months. During that time she will be unable to do the heavy work that running a horse business requires. However all the horses' and farm expenses will continue.
Please help Dede stay afloat while she recovers from this horrific incident.
