Stand by Connie and Bob in Their Time of Need

I’m reaching out as a family friend on behalf of two of the most selfless, kind-hearted people I know, the Thompson daughters, whose family are currently facing overwhelming medical and financial challenges that no one should ever have to go through alone.
Earlier this year, Connie Thompson began preparing for a much-needed back surgery when a scan revealed something unexpected—a spot on her lymph nodes. Initially, doctors thought it was nothing serious. However, six months later, a follow-up scan showed the spot had not only doubled in size but spread to her breast and possibly other areas.
On March 17th, she was officially diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Grade 3, and they are currently treating it as Stage 3 breast cancer, with some concern it may have likely spread to her liver. She is now undergoing aggressive chemotherapy and is expected to need surgery, with additional treatments still unknown as her doctors monitor how she responds. Chemo has taken a huge toll on her body—she’s extremely weak and often sick, and unfortunately, she doesn’t drive, making things even more difficult.
As if that wasn’t enough, just weeks later, Bob Thompson, the family’s rock and sole provider, fell ill. He was experiencing leg pain and dizziness and was sent home from the ER with medication for vertigo. Tragically, no one examined his feet—despite the fact that he is diabetic. Less than two weeks later, his condition worsened drastically. He returned to the ER where they discovered gas gangrene and severe sepsis.
He was rushed to downtown Cleveland for emergency surgery, where doctors amputated all the toes on his left foot, and his entire right foot along with part of his leg. He is now in a rehabilitation center learning how to heal and get around—currently wheelchair bound and learning to move using only one foot. It’s been an emotionally and physically devastating change for someone who has always worked hard to provide for his family.
With both of them unable to work, the financial burden is unimaginable. They’re facing mountains of medical bills, household expenses, car payments, utility costs, and now the urgent need to make their home wheelchair accessible—including a ramp and other necessary modifications.
I know times are tough for many right now, but if you’re in a position to give—even just a little—it would mean the world. And if you can’t donate, please consider sharing this with your network. Every share and every dollar makes a real difference.
Thank you so much for your love, support, and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. Let’s help give them a little light during one of the darkest chapters of their lives.
With love,
A best friend supporting some of the greatest hearts she’s ever met
