Stand by Christopher Through His Crisis
Donation protected
On Friday, March 7, 2025, my husband Christopher needed emergency surgery for a blocked colon. During the procedure, the colon was perforated and he developed sepsis immediately. His body was in septic shock for 5 hours and he almost died. He was airlifted to a larger hospital that had more resources to care for him and he is currently still there. On top of his body fighting against sepsis, he has Myasthenia Gravis and diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma. He has needed to stop chemotherapy while he is on life support and will return to it once he is stronger.
I'm very loathe to asking for money, but things are dire. Chris has always been the sole breadwinner for us, and obviously he is unable to earn right now. He has his own checking account that is used to pay for everything. I don't have any of his passwords, so I have no idea what needs to be paid, if things are set to autopay, if there is income coming in from other sources. We will need money for the most basic of things: rent, car payment, car insurance, health insurance, electric, water, and an internet connection. I'm not even sure of the cost of some of these things, so I will have to spend a day calling these services to get more information.
If Chris survives this, he will not be coming home right away. The surgeons have told me he may still possibly spend weeks at the hospital and then eventually transfer to a physical rehabilitation center. He will have to learn how to use his body all over again. There is a vast amount of unpredictability for what he will be capable of in the long run. Time in the rehab could take months. It seems that it will be a long time before he will be able to work again.
