Stand By Chris: A Father Battling Cancer

Hi, my name is Emily Johanson, and I’ve created this GoFundMe to support my in-laws during one of the most difficult times of their lives. In October, my father-in-law, Chris, received the devastating diagnosis of High-Grade B-cell Lymphoma. Since then, he has begun a rigorous chemotherapy treatment plan that will last 5-6 months. Unfortunately, this means Chris is unable to work, with his earliest potential return to work set for May 2025.

This diagnosis has placed a tremendous financial and emotional strain on their family. My mother-in-law is now the sole provider for their household, juggling work and caregiving while supporting their three children, who still live at home and are between the ages of 12 and 18. The mounting medical bills, coupled with everyday living expenses, have created an overwhelming burden that no family should have to bear alone.

Chris is a hardworking, selfless man who has always gone out of his way to help others—whether it’s his family, friends, or even a stranger in need. Now, he and his family need our support.

I set up this GoFundMe to help alleviate the financial stress cancer has brought to their lives, so they can focus on what matters most: Chris’s recovery and their family’s well-being.
