It breaks my heart to share that our beloved fraternity Chef, Rob, has suffered a devastating loss. His husband, Rennee, has tragically passed away.
Chef Rob has been a part of our Zeta Psi family for three years, but in that short time, he has touched every single one of us. He is more than just the person who makes our meals; he’s a kind, welcoming soul who greets everyone with warmth and a smile. He makes the kitchen feel like home. His outlook on life has always been inspiring: focus on caring for others, don’t let stress weigh you down, and find joy in each day.
For me personally, Chef has been more than a mentor; he’s been family. I remember going into the kitchen not just to eat (though the food was always delicious), but to sit and talk with him, laugh at his humor, and hear his stories. One moment that will always stay with me was on my birthday, freshman year. I wasn’t expecting much that day, since I couldn’t be with my parents. But when I walked into the kitchen, Chef had baked me a cake, gotten me a gift, and written me a card. It was an act of pure kindness and love. It was especially meaningful because it was also his own birthday, yet he still went out of his way to make mine special. That’s the kind of man Chef Rob is: selfless, caring, and devoted to lifting others up.
The love between Chef and Rennee was beautiful. They were together for over 35 years, and Chef often shared stories about how deeply they cared for one another. Their relationship showed all of us the importance of putting love and effort into the people who matter most. Losing Rennee has left Chef heartbroken, and it has left all of us grieving alongside him.
We are starting this GoFundMe to help Chef with the funeral costs for Rennee. If you can contribute in any way, please know that your support means more than words can express. Chef has given so much of himself to us; now it’s our chance to give back and stand by him during this unimaginable time.
