Help Chandra Survive Surviving Cancer!

Our very dear and wonderful colleague and friend, Chandra Sherr, is an amazing kindergarten teacher in Marin County, CA. She was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last summer and after arduous treatments, she has come through the other side alive and well. Through it all, she has somehow still managed to keep showing up to teach her littles, advocate for her community, and inspire us all to keep showing up for our community. It’s no wonder that Chandra has been voted as one of America’s Top 15 Teachers by Americasfavteacher.org (voting still open, BTW).

We are so happy that Chandra has survived cancer, but surviving is expensive.

Even with insurance, Chandra has been left with at least $35,000 in medical bills that the insurance company has refused to pay. She has run out of sick days, which means that she gets docked for pay every time she needs time off for follow-up testing, check-ups, and other medical appointments.

The money raised here will support Chandra to pay off these unreimbursed medical bills and cover the costs of deducted sick days as she takes care of medical and practical expenses. We may adjust the target as we go forward.
