Help Carrie Lang-Westergaard in Her Fight Against Advanced Cancer

I’ve been friends with Carrie since we were 14 years old. We’ve grown up side-by-side—through big hair and bad eyeliner, first loves, babies, heartbreaks, and more laughter than I can ever count. She has been my ride-or-die for nearly 40 years.

Recently, our world changed forever. She was diagnosed with aggressive cancer that has spread to her brain (over 20 lesions), lungs, throat, liver, kidney, and lymph nodes. Just days ago, she underwent emergency brain surgery to relieve dangerous swelling. Today, she faces another surgery to place a permanent shunt to drain fluid from her brain into her abdomen, allowing her to begin chemotherapy while in the hospital.

She is in pain, on a restricted diet, and facing the hardest fight of her life—but she’s doing it with grit and courage that inspires everyone around her. Carrie is one of the strongest women I have ever known. She is the epitome of strength.

Her greatest joy in life is her family—her 3 children, 2 stepchildren, and 7 grandchildren. She has always given everything she could to others, even when she had little herself. Now, she needs us.

We are raising funds to help with:

Travel and lodging for her family to be near her during treatments

Comfort care items to ease her recovery and make hospital stays less stressful

Covering basic expenses so her loved ones can focus on supporting her instead of worrying about bills
