Stand by Brock and Allye Bateson’s Side

Donation protected
On Friday morning, as Brock Bateson was driving to work, he looked out his driver-side window and thought, “That pretty red truck is going to hit me.” It did. The red truck hit him so hard—a T-bone collision—that it knocked his own large work truck off the road and into the brush of the ditch, snapping an electric pole along the way.

Brock’s friend, Kyle, happened to be close behind and saw the accident. He called Brock’s best friend Mason to the scene. An off duty officer that also happened to be a long time family friend also happened upon the scene on his way to work; he told us that he looked at the work truck and thought for sure that its driver did not survive. Kyle yelled, “He’s moving.”

As crews worked to extract Brock from his truck, the driver of the red truck was medevaced from the scene. We don’t know what happened to him.

Brock was taken to Stillwater Regional, where they decided his injuries required trauma specialists. They stabilized him and sent him in “critical but stable” condition to OU Trauma Center in Oklahoma City.

His parents and siblings were on a plane from Pennsylvania to Oklahoma within hours. They arrived at the hospital about 12 hours after the accident and were able to see Brock, who by a miracle and the grace of God, was sitting up in a hospital bed. Bandaged and in pain, but very much alive.

Brock sustained several injuries, including several broken ribs, broken bones in both hands, and a broken left humerus. The worst of the damage is to his lungs: one side collapsed, and the other side bruised and injured from the broken ribs. As of this time, his arm will not need surgery, but the orthopedic doctor expects it to take many months to heal the nerve damage in his arm. As of this writing, Brock is still in the hospital as the doctors repair his lungs. It will be a long recovery for a young man who uses his hands for labor.

Brock and his wife Allye will need help as medical and daily bills mount while he is unable to work. We are so grateful for your continued prayers.
