The Hurley family is currently being faced with one of the toughest things one can imagine. Brilee, who is 20 years old, was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) and unfortunately, very quickly, is now in complete liver failure and in need of a liver transplant. There is much unknown because it is rare, only about 1 in 100,000 people are affected.
For Brilee, he has many uncomfortable symptoms but faces his days, good and bad, with that smile that we have all come to love. He is being supported greatly by his family, girlfriend, and those surrounding him in his community. They are staying positive and thankful for God’s faithfulness through this process so far.
Thankfully, Brilee has been established with Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, one of the leading transplant centers in the world. Brilee has been through the exhausting process of being evaluated for the liver transplant and has been approved, both by Mayo and his insurance, and placed on the liver transplant list! But, as you can imagine, this is an extremely costly process. Not only are there the costs of the medical care, but also the cost of travel to and from Jacksonville from their home in Tennessee. Additionally, their stay before and after the transplant, and all the extra expenses in between. It has been said they could have to travel to Jacksonville more than a couple of times in preparation for a liver, only to find out, for more than one reason, that the liver isn't the right one and have to return home.
Brilee and his family are a light to many, always offering to help others in whatever way they can. Throughout this process, they’ve done nothing but stay positive and held firmly to their faith. Our hope is to give back to a family that has given so much to their communities and people that are around them. Please partner with us in helping to relieve part of the financial burden for them! We know they would never ask themselves, so we are asking for them.
