It is with a heavy heart that must give an update that my father Rickey Oliver Adkins Jr. passed peacefully and surrounded by family on Monday February 10, 2025. All donations will now go toward his Memorial service.

Help Support My Father’s Medical Journey: Open Heart Surgery and Liver Transplant

Hello, my name is Kelley and I am reaching out for your support to help my father, Rickey ‘Big Rick’ Adkins Jr, a man who has always been the first to help others, even in the toughest of times.

For 36 years, he has been an amazing husband to my mom (Dawn Adkins),a loving father (Rickey, Dana, Kelley, Greg), the best Pop Pop to Olivia and a cherished friend to so many. His deep, booming voice and big, tough exterior might have made him seem like a tough guy, but anyone who knows him will tell you that he is a total teddy bear who gives the BEST hugs —a kind soul always willing to lend an ear or hand.

Now, it’s our turn to support him.

Unfortunately, my father is facing two serious health challenges: he urgently needs open-heart bypass surgery and a liver transplant. These procedures are critical for his survival, but they also come with a heavy financial burden. He is currently receiving care at Henry Ford Hospital, which is about 90 minutes from home, putting extra strain on our family.

My mother, who has been a devoted caregiver to my father, still works full time to support the family while caring for him around the clock. As you can imagine, this is an incredibly exhausting and challenging situation for her.

The costs of his medical care, the travel expenses for his treatments, and the toll on our family are overwhelming. We’re asking for your help to ease some of this financial strain. Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to us as we navigate this difficult time.
