Stand by Bekah: Erase Joey's Medical Debt
Donation protected
Nine years ago, Joey and Bekah Eaker's lives changed in the blink of an eye. In the middle of the night, Joey, an audio professional in the music industry, was dropped off by his tour bus at a hospital in rural Louisiana, clutching his abdomen. A tiny gallstone was the cause of "the worst case of pancreatitis doctors have ever seen."
From there, Joey experienced an avalanche of medical complications that lasted almost a decade of his young life. Sepsis, PICC line placement that severed a nerve, infections, failed procedures, leaky pancreas, total gastrectomy, splenectomy, distal pancreatectomy, an ostomy bag, insomnia, and so much pain.
Despite it all, Joey remained the warm, thoughtful, generous, and witty man that Bekah fell in love with and that his friends adored.
Bekah, through every hospital stay, every ER visit, and every IV line, remained steadfast. While many caregivers understandably grow weary, Bekah's love for Joey only grew deeper. Laughing with him through the pain, finding ways to stay busy through hours of hospital stay boredom, and soaking in every sweet moment of sunshine and peace life offered them. Every day, not only carrying the mantle of a caregiver, but also a provider, wife, lover, and friend. Doing so with a quiet strength, grace, and joy that few possess.
(You can hear Joey and Bekah share their story in depth together on THIS PODCAST EPISODE )
On May 11, 2025, Joey's pain and fight came to an end. After years of bravely battling, his body finally said no more. Leaving those of us left behind thankful for every day he stayed, giving us the gift of his kindness, courage, and pension for mischief that we all loved so much.
While Joey is gone, Bekah and those who knew him best will continue his legacy.
That is where you come in. As of today, there is still outstanding medical debt from Joey's care that needs to be covered, and together, we can very easily take care of this.
So many of us have a "Joey story." A story of how he went above and beyond, often when he had a fever, to help us when we were in need. Let's repay the favor and go above and beyond for Joey now.
Anyone who knows Joey knows that Bekah was his heartbeat. There is no one he loved and adored more than his sweet wife. After years of loving him and caring for him, she deserves to walk into this next season medical debt-free.
Let's do this.
