Attention all my Facebook friends and family!!!! We are in need of your help. My good friend and longtime co-workers' significant other has suffered an acute episode with his Crohn's disease. If you do not already know April Zimmerman and Andrew Engling you will by the time you are finished reading this. I am here to inform you she is the most amazing, caring person you will meet. She has been in the nursing field for many, many years and has taken care of her patients with the up most compassion and caring attitude anyone could ask for. She has probably taken care of some of your family members in the past or even present time. It is now time to help her. She currently works for Good Sam HH providing care to people in need in their homes. Andrew her significant other, was diagnosed with Crohn's about 3 years ago, 2 of which have been really rough. He continued to go to work daily at his job of 23 plus years. He has suffered from weakness, fatigue, and a large amount of weight loss. He attempted to see treatment for the Crohn's down in the KC area, but due to being diagnosed with latent TB he was not able to start the treatment right away. After being cleared for treatment and trying several medications that did not work, he was finally able to start Skyrizi in October of 2024. About a week ago Andrew, developed acute4 abdominal pain to the point he had to seek medical treatment at the emergency room. He was diagnosed with Pancreatitis and was shipped to Hays Medical Center for acute renal failure. On Monday March 31st he was admitted to the ICU in Hays for kidney failure and sepsis. Sepsis is an infection in the blood which can be fatal. Due to his kidneys not functioning he was placed on Dialysis and also had to be placed on a ventilator to help him breathe. With little to no improvement the decision was made to transport him to KC. He was flown to KC on Saturday April 5th where he remains. April and Andrew both deserve the help. April has needed to take off of work to be with Andrew. This fund is being set up to assist with medical bills, gas, and transportation costs. We all know how expensive things are, and any little bit can help. We thank you all for taking time to read Andrew's story and consideration of donating.
