Hi everyone,

I'm raising funds for my coworker and friend, Angel Israel, who has been out of work since June 19th, when her 11-year-old son, Aaqil Israel, was the victim of a devastating hit-and-run accident.

Aaqil was struck by a car, suffering a shattered right knee and fibula, a minor concussion, and a deep laceration to the back of his head that required seven staples. He’s currently in a full leg cast and has already undergone surgery to insert pins into his leg to stabilize the break. On August 1st, Aaqil will return to the hospital for another surgery to have those pins removed. From there, he’ll be in a knee brace for three months and begin physical therapy to rebuild strength and learn to walk normally again.

Angel has been by his side every step of the way — from hospital stays to surgical care to daily needs — but she hasn’t been able to work during this time. Because her company is so small, her leave is unpaid, and she won’t receive her first paycheck again until September.

This fundraiser’s goal is $4,500, to help Angel cover essentials like food, gas, bills, and transportation to medical appointments while she continues to care for Aaqil full-time during his recovery.
