My name is Alexander and I’m writing this as the son of an incredible woman — my mom, Ana Rosa.

My mom has always been the quiet, steady heart of our family. She’s never been one to complain, even when life has been incredibly hard. She’s the kind of person who puts everyone else first — who shows up with love, patience, and a warm smile, no matter what she’s going through. Watching her now, so physically weak and in pain, is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone. It’s heartbreaking to see someone so full of life brought down by this disease — again.

A few years ago, she beat ovarian cancer. But now, it’s come back — more aggressive and more advanced. It has spread to her abdominal wall and internal organs, and her kidneys are beginning to fail. She’s undergoing a grueling six-round chemotherapy treatment, currently in her fourth round, and it’s taken a huge toll on her body. She can’t work. She can barely leave the house. But even now, she hasn’t given up.

She’s also receiving high-dose Vitamin C therapy — a treatment that’s helping to support her immune system and give her some strength back. But at $359 per session and not covered by insurance, it’s something we’re struggling to afford. That’s why I’m reaching out for help.

Mi nombre es Alexander y escribo esto como el hijo de una mujer increíble: mi mamá, Ana Rosa.

Mi mamá siempre ha sido el corazón silencioso y constante de nuestra familia. Nunca ha sido de quejarse, incluso cuando la vida ha sido increíblemente difícil. Es el tipo de persona que siempre pone a los demás primero, que aparece con amor, paciencia y una sonrisa cálida sin importar por lo que esté pasando. Verla ahora, tan débil físicamente y con dolor, es algo que no le desearía a nadie. Es desgarrador ver a alguien tan lleno de vida ser derribado por esta enfermedad... otra vez.

Hace algunos años, venció el cáncer de ovario. Pero ahora ha regresado, más agresivo y más avanzado. Se ha extendido a la pared abdominal y a los órganos internos, y sus riñones están comenzando a fallar. Está recibiendo un tratamiento de quimioterapia muy intenso de seis rondas; actualmente está en la cuarta ronda, y ha sido un golpe muy fuerte para su cuerpo. No puede trabajar. Apenas puede salir de casa. Pero incluso ahora, no se ha rendido.

También está recibiendo terapia con Vitamina C en dosis altas, un tratamiento que le está ayudando a fortalecer su sistema inmunológico y a recuperar algo de fuerza. Pero cuesta $359 por sesión y no está cubierto por el seguro, lo cual se nos está haciendo muy difícil de costear. Por eso estoy pidiendo ayuda.
