Stand By Ahmi: A Sneaker Brother and Veteran In Need

Donation protected
It breaks my heart to see one of our dear friends in the sneaker community go through the things that he has this year. Ahmi has always been one of the most genuine and loving people since we met, but he is struggling right now and he needs our help as a community. Most of you all don’t know about his struggles as of this year, so let me fill you all in.

Earlier this year, Ahmi, a US Army combat veteran, fell victim to identity theft that left him living off of his emergency fund. All of this happened just before he was due to move into his new apartment. Right after the identity theft situation, he lost his good-paying job of 11 years due to department cuts. You would’ve thought that there would have been generous severance payments, but the company instead is denying payments because they want to see whether they are going to move them to other locations. It’s been months and a decision has yet to be made; meanwhile, they are keeping those that got cut from drawing unemployment.

After the nightmare with Ahmi’s job and the identity theft situation, he was then faced with heart failure and the possibility of needing heart surgery. He got out of the hospital on tons of medication but was then faced with the anniversary of one of the bloodiest days of his life, grieving the many friends that he lost that day, along with dealing with the stress of everything that is happening in his life now. He almost ended it all, but he didn’t. He chose to stay and keep going for himself and his loved ones.

Just when things seemed to be getting better, he was hit with another obstacle. His SUV got taken away because of an error that could’ve easily been handled by the finance company. Ahmi made 2 payments before the identity theft happened to get ahead on his truck note. The financial company took the money out of the bank account and then put it back. The identity theft happened, and they couldn’t get the money back out. Instead of notifying Ahmi of what happened, they didn’t say anything. He even called to have his payments deferred so that he wouldn’t fall behind, and they still said nothing.

Ahmi is a good person and would give you the clothes off his back. He’s been beaten down enough this year, so let’s all pull together and lift him up. Let’s breathe life into our brother and show him that he does have a sneaker family that cares and wants to see him pull through this dark time in life. We can be the light in a dark room for him. We all spend money on unnecessary things, so how about instead of doing that, we help a fellow enthusiast and someone who put his life on the line to defend this country. Love you all and thank you for anything you donate.
