Hello!

As some of you know, my dad, Jeff Smith, has recently been diagnosed with two types of cancer, both in the third stage. Oropharyngeal Cancer of the throat and mouth and Squamous cell carcinoma cancer of the skin. He is going to start treatment at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas in the upcoming weeks. His treatment will include chemotherapy once a week and radiation four days a week for a nine week period. Before he is able to start treatment there are a few procedures that have to take place. Oral and dental work, feeding tube and a possible throat trake are some of the bigger procedures being done. 
As he and my mom like in Lake Dallas, Texas drive to and from Dallas for procedures, appointments and treatments everyday is not an easy task. Because my dad is very sick and weak he requires constant care and is unable to drive. My mom is the sole provider of their household and has had to cut her hours at work to two days a week in order to care for my dad. She drives him to all of his appointments, treatments and procedures, administers his food and medications and provides constant care for him. While she has cut her hours at work, their monthly income has drastically dropped making it difficult for her to pay the bills.
