Stan & Pat Ambrozy - House Fire COMPLETE LOSS
Donation protected
Hi - I am Stephen Ambrozy. My parents, Stan & Pat Ambrozy, suffered a devastating loss on the morning of February 22, 2024. That morning Pat heard a popping noise coming from the direction of the garage while she was in the back yard. Soon after, billowing, black smoke was seen in the house.
Bandit, their 5 year old Australian Shepherd jumped on and off the bed to wake Stan. Pat made her way back toward the bedrooms when she saw Stan walking her way. They both made it out of the house hindered by smoke inhalation.
Once outside the house, Pat called frantically for Bandit and Sadie, a 7 year old Pit Bull mix. Those calls would go unanswered. Bandit and Sadie both were overcome by smoke and passed away next to the bed where Stan was sleeping. They died huddled together, brother and sister, heroes memorialized.
Stan and Pat were transported via ambulance to an emergency room. Stan was released the same day while Pat needed surgery to place a pace maker in her chest. Remarkably, the emergency room visit uncovered a serious heart rhythm issue.
The fire investigators believe the blaze began with Pat’s Ford Escape. The intensity of the fire incinerated the car and garage so badly the mortar between many of the bricks didn’t survive.
The blaze traveled quickly throughout the attic area and upstairs. Smoke and heat damage on the first floor was extensive. Fortunately, firefighters were on scene within four minutes. Three fire stations responded with six total trucks, including two ladder trucks. The blaze was under control in 30 minutes and extinguished 3 hours later.
Thousands of gallons of water brought the ceilings down into the house, water damage throughout. Smoke damage proved equally destructive as nothing in the home was spared.
Cleanup, insurance claims, and rebuilding will take Stan and Pat the better part of a year if they’re fortunate. Currently, they’re between a hotel and my sister’s home (Pam) and her family. My brother, Bill, and I help daily with clearing debris and insurance claims.
Donations from this giving site will help them replace basic necessities, clothes, medicine, groceries, etc. Charges for the emergency room and ambulance will be forthcoming too.
Stan and Pat thank the Lord they made it out relatively unscathed by the fire, but ask that you remember the two family members that didn’t, Bandit and Sadie.
