In his life, Stan is remembered as an incredibly vital, energetic, and commanding presence. In his final years, he suffered from dementia and poor physical health. He lived in the Amber Valley Care Center where he was very capably looked after by a wonderful team of nurses and carers. These ladies (they are mostly women and a few men) make the lives of the residents remarkably comfortable as they go about their business brightening every room they enter with their irrepressible energy, good cheer, warmth and zest for life.
Despite enormous efforts on the part of the doctors and nurses running the Care Center, including a complete 90-day lockdown, Covid-19 found its way into this facility. While it has devastated many of the elderly residents, Stan included, it has tragically also taken the lives of some of the carers themselves. These are younger people, responsible for young families. The Stan Parsons Memorial Fund will help support these families in their time of need, helping to pay for funeral expenses and for the education of affected children. The fund will be administered and overseen by Hazel Parsons who lives in Amber Valley.
