There I was on an unusually warm end of a 4th grade winter day, on the soccer field daydreaming about Pokemon or Sega or corn dogs or whatever non-athletic gangly kids think about. When out of the great beyond the soccer ball slaps my in the face. I flail to the ground, my eyes tearing up; I'm positive my nose is broken. Children all around me keel over in laughter.
That pretty much sums up how I feel about the global pandemic known as COVID -19. Except instead of everyone standing around laughing at me, every other 4th grader has been hit with a soccer ball - even the coach. We are all writhing in hilarious agony on the field; the faculty runs out, they get punted too.
I, Paul Shanrock, have been feeling under the weather and because I haven't been tested yet I've self quarantined . That's why you haven't seen Stampede doing To-Go or takeout drinks or why even getting our merch in your hands has been especially hard. I've been in isolation for 8 days now. I'm starting to make a full recovery and will be back in the streets very soon.
It was never my objective to do a gofundme. Since day one, Stampede has been wickedly popular and defiantly independent. Serving Fremont and Seattle has been the best and most cherished work of my life and I know the same goes for my staff. These last 2 years have flown by in a whirlwind of alcoholic bliss and friendship and merriment and now all of a sudden... it could end? Forever?
I've set the goal at $18,000 in an optimistic hope to split it up between my staff. This is a brutal moment in time. Some of my staff are ineligible for unemployment, as am I. And the scariest thing of all is we don't know when this will end.
So please if you can, give and if you can't because COVID-19 is affecting you too, please know that the first round will always be on Stampede.

Thank you to my staff for being the best fucking bartenders and colleagues I've ever had the honor and privilege to work alongside.
