Hi, my name is Milah, and I want to share why I started this fundraiser. This Ramadan, I felt inspired to do something meaningful and give back in a way that truly makes a difference. Having the privledge to attend a school with so much diversity and multiculturalism, i see it as a perfect opportunity to come together and give the gift of water, something we take for granted, during this special month of Ramadan. That’s why I am launching this fundraiser to raise enough money to build a community water well in Niger on behalf of my school’s name, which will be put on the water wells plague. I’m choosing Niger for this water well fundraiser because it’s one of the most water-scarce countries in the world. With long droughts, extreme heat, and limited access to clean drinking water, millions of people—especially in rural areas—struggle daily to find safe water for drinking, cooking, and farming. Women and children often walk miles just to collect water, which is sometimes unsafe to drink. By building a well in Niger, we can provide a sustainable water source that improves health, supports education (since kids won’t have to miss school to fetch water), and empowers entire communities. Clean water isn’t just a necessity—it’s a lifeline, and together, we can make a lasting impact.

I have partnered with Muslim Hands Canada (muslimhands.ca), and every dollar raised will go directly toward providing clean, safe drinking water for a community in need. Water is a fundamental necessity that so many of us take for granted, yet countless people around the world struggle daily to access it. By contributing to this cause, you will be helping to change lives—improving health, hygiene, and overall well-being for an entire community. My goal is $5,000, however if we surpass this goal every dollar will be put towards more wells. $5,000 builds a community well, and every donation raised after will go towards the building of other smaller scale wells.
