Stairway to Heaven: Keelan Mullans’ 30th Birthday Tribute Walk
In Aid of Road Victim Support Northern Ireland-Donegal
Hi, my name is Debbie Mullan, and together with my family we will be walking this summer with a heart full of love, remembrance, and hope — In Memory of my son, Keelan Mullan on his 30th Birthday.
On the 2nd of March 2013, Keelan was just 17 and a half years old. That morning, he headed out to the local town to pick up a crusty loaf of bread — something so simple, so everyday. But on his way, Keelan hit black ice. He lost control of his car and collided head-on with an oncoming tractor and slurry tanker. He was killed instantly.
In one unimaginable moment, our world was shattered.
For the past nine years, I’ve devoted my time to supporting others walking a similar path, volunteering as a bereavement and trauma counsellor for families affected by road traffic tragedies. I’ve met so many broken hearts, and I’ve seen how vital compassion and community can be.
This year, Keelan should be celebrating his 30th birthday. I should be wrapping a present, ordering a cake, making a pavlova, or hearing him laugh. But I can’t do any of those things.
So instead, I want to give a different kind of gift — not to Keelan, but in his name.
I want to raise funds and donate to Road Victim Support Northern Ireland-Donegal (RVSNID) — to help others at their lowest point, after the trauma of a road collision or the loss of someone they love. This gift is a reflection of Keelan’s life, and of the love that continues to grow even in his absence.
To achieve this we are organising the,
Stairway to Heaven Walk,
Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trail,
Co Fermanagh
Meeting Point @ the Pay Carpark at 11 am
In Loving Memory of Keelan Mullan– Celebrating His 30th Birthday.
This walk is more than an event — it’s a tribute, a gathering, and a movement. It’s a chance to say: Keelan lived, he was loved, and he is never forgotten. For all those who want to join in we will be having refreshments and Birthday Cake to celebrate a life too precious to forget.
We walk to remember him, and to support Road Victim Support Northern Ireland-Donegal (RVSNID) — an organisation that offers vital emotional and practical help to families who face the same devastating loss we did.
Why This Walk Matters?
Every year, countless families experience the heartbreak of road deaths and serious collisions. This walk is a chance to bring people together — to remember those we’ve lost, to support those still healing, and to raise awareness for safer roads.
We walk because these milestone birthdays matter. They remind us not just of the day our loved ones left us, but of the day they came into our lives. They remind us that their presence had meaning — and still does.
