Stair Lift for Bob

What happened:

On Saturday, January 6th Bob was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center via ambulance in critical condition. He was diagnosed with full body sepsis stemming from an infection in his left hip (yes, his good and only leg). After trying a needle aspiration to remove the infection and a week of treating with the right IV antibiotic, Bob was still septic.

On Saturday, January 13th Bob had his hip surgically opened and cleared of infection only to discover the rod in his left femur was trapping the infection and the rod needs to be removed. He will have surgery again sometime this week when the doctors receive a special tool to remove the 40 year old rod.

In the meantime, Bob remains in the hospital receiving IV antibiotics and pain medication to help his body fight the septic infection. He has no anticipated discharge date and will remain in the hospital as long as it takes to get him feeling better and beat this infection.

The reason we are fundraising:

Bob lives in a 2 story home, with 14 steps between the main floor and the bedroom/full bath. He’s got one leg and getting up the stairs was already a challenge, now with his only leg being compromised, getting Bob upstairs to shower and bed is impossible. He needs a stair lift.

Unfortunately, insurance doesn’t cover stair lifts. We are hoping to fundraise enough to cover the cost and installation of a stair lift so Bob can move freely between the two floors of his home.

About the family:

Bob is the type of guy that will give you the shirt off his back in the middle of a wind storm. He’s constantly around and helping friends and, let’s be real, everyone knows Bob. His wife, Audri, runs a daycare out of their home in Rutland and is Bobs primary care giver through recovery. He has two adult daughters, Alyssa and Lindsey, and an amazing grandson, Logan. We aren’t the type to ask for help, we are the type to give, so this isn’t easy for us to ask.
