Staging of "Things I Know To Be True"

Donation protected
Hello friends, family, and peers!

This message is coming to you from directors Cory Fitzsimmons and Kimberly Laberge. We are very excited to mount our dream production of Andrew Bovell's Things I Know to Be True this April! We worked together last on a production of Oedipus with the Fleeing Artists in Kenosha, from where our producer Alex Metalsky hails.
After mounting a successful show, we felt inspired to work together again, and branch out on our own as independent directors to produce this beautiful play about family.

The piece also will be credited as Kimberly's senior capstone in her final semester at UWM.

THE PLAY
The play poses the question: can one love too much?
It follows Bob, Fran, and their four adult children as they each navigate significant turning points in their lives.
Through grounded, high-intensity scenes and inspired movement and music, the story explores themes of identity, family, belonging, and mistakes.
The piece features opportunities for trans* talent, and all roles will be cast regardless of race and body type.

MAKING THIS DREAM COME TRUE
We are seeking help from all of you to tell this beautiful story. We are raising funds to help us cover venues, talent, tech, show rights, and more. We value the work of artists and intend on pouring every cent earned back into honoring the actors, technicians, and collaborators on the project.

We have a whole cavalcade of milestones both large and small listed below: we want to show you our appreciation for making our dream show come into existence! Enjoy our tiered benefits based on your donation value.

Luckily, we're part of the way to our big goal; we've managed to secure a matching donor who has kindly offered to match our first $1000, dollar-for-dollar. (So, all early donations are actually doubled!)

APPRECIATION MILESTONE GOALS
$50 — A signed poster from our cast, crew, and us

$75 — Both a signed poster AND a signed program

$100 — The previous milestone goals PLUS a special shoutout in our program for your name or business

$200 — Previous goals, and your name or business will be given a special shoutout during our preshow announcements

$400 — All previous goals, PLUS: you will have a full page in our program dedicated to you or your business.

$500 — All previously mentioned milestones, AND your name or business logo will be listed on all our show posters (advertised throughout Milwaukee).

$750 — All previous milestones, and on top of that, your name or business will be promoted as a Sponsor in our lobby with a custom Lobby Display.

$1000 — All previously mentioned milestone goals, plus five (5) VIP tickets to Opening Night, which include front-row seating and invitation to an exclusive talkback with the cast, crew and directors after the show. Wine and Cheese will be provided, courtesy of our team.

If you can't donate monetarily, we understand! We are seeking in-kind donations as well. Our high priority needs are:
  • Rehearsal space! We will be rehearsing weeknight evenings from approximately February until April. If you are in Milwaukee or the greater Milwaukee area and have a space you wouldn't mind sharing, please reach out!
  • Advertising! Do you have a platform from which you can advertise our performance? We would love to discuss what you need from us (posters, graphics, interviews, etc) and work together.
  • Printing! A donor is covering the cost of printing programs. We still, however, have posters to send out into the community!
  • Miscellaneous - Do you have anything else you think may be of help? Connections, materials, props... Anything you think may be beneficial to us, please reach out and we would love to chat.

Lastly - if none of the above is within your wheelhouse, you can help us out by sharing this page!

We are incredibly thankful to every one of you for being a part of arts in this community and are grateful for your support in continuing to tell important stories on Milwaukee stages.

Thank you for being a part of this story.
