Support Martika Martin’s family

Donation protected
Monday, the 15th of April 2024, my beautiful wife and wonderful mother to our daughters, went to walk with our Lord after her brave battle with cancer. Martika Martin was truly my life partner. I’m forever grateful for the years that we enjoyed together, for the joyful memories that we created, and for the family we we’ve been blessed with. Those memories will be the treasures that we will cherish forever, and I take comfort knowing that we will be reunited again someday. Please lift our family in prayer as we navigate the path ahead, and thank you for the love and support you’ve shown.

We are planning for visiting hours in Keller, Tx on Wednesday the 24th and a service on Thursday the 25th. I will update everyone on the dates and times.

Any funds donated after her passing will go toward unpaid medical expenses. Thank you so much!

Todd Martin

12%…this is the 5 year survival rate for those who have the type of cancer that I do. Stage 4, metastatic triple negative breast cancer. This means statistically I only have a 12% chance of being here to see my daughters graduate high school. Not a great prognosis.

My name is Martika and I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in February, 2023. My first round with cancer was in 2018 and I spent 2019 and 2020 having numerous surgeries, completing 12 rounds of chemo and 30 rounds of radiation. I was declared NED (no evidence of disease).

My cancer has now spread to my bones and bone marrow, all over my body from my skull down to my legs. It has also completely mutated, as originally it was hormone driven, ER and PR positive.

According to my oncologist this is a ‘terminal’ condition and I am offered treatments of chemo and infusions that increase bone density. I do not qualify for immunotherapy. Radiation treatments are offered but only for pain management or to bolster certain areas of my bones that are fracturing. I have needed a blood transfusion every month since being diagnosed, as my hemoglobin drops to low levels that cause dizziness and major fatigue. At these times climbing a set of stairs feels like I ran a marathon.

What to do? The more research I do on integrative or functional medicine, the more I believe that our traditional treatments don’t offer me much hope. Chemo and radiation aim to kill and destroy the cancer, but also attack the healthy cells in your body and compromise your immune system which was designed to keep you healthy. In contrast, integrative medicine aims to strengthen and bolster your body and immune system to help you fight off the cancer. It is a more specialized and tailored approach that analyzes your body’s unique challenges and obstacles then focuses on detoxification, supportive therapies and increasing your health.

So what would hold someone back from going this route?

The main issue is cost.

The price is usually fairly high and not covered by insurance, so unfortunately you are on your own. I visited a top functional medicine clinic in San Francisco in August and even the initial testing cost us $5,000. I receive my final treatment recommendations in a few weeks, as some of the tests take quite some time to complete, but the doctor mentioned that he estimated my treatment costs would be about $250,000.

This is why I am asking for help. Financial help if you can provide it, but we also covet your prayers for healing and recovery. There is certainly power in prayer and I truly appreciate all those that already hold our family in your hearts. I know God is a healer and He is in the business of performing miracles.

Dear friends, I do not want to guilt you into giving us money that you cannot afford to give. I am appealing to those that are able to assist. We have provided gifts to others when we were able and I know there are those out there that will feel compelled by our dire situation. Even a $20 donation would mean a great deal towards making a difference.

I thank you all for reading my story, for your kind consideration and I hope you have a blessed day!
