Robyn & Jacks Bucket List
Adventure Fund
My incredible friend Robyn just heard that, after 5 years cancer free, her breast cancer has returned, and is now at Stage 4. Her 11-year-old boy Jack understands entirely—he’s has been by his mom’s side through chemo, a double mastectomy, and the pain of reconstruction. Despite this, Jack now confidently asserts, “I’m not scared because I believe in you.” While Robyn is prepared to fight this battle with the faith of her son, she has been reminded that life is short. She wants to spend her time creating wonderful memories with Jack but does not have the finances to fund the activities she’d like to enjoy with him, including a trip to the other side of the world. So, I’d like to ask for your help to raise money for Robyn’s & Jack’s Bucket List Adventures. Any donation, small or large, would be help Robyn and Jack live life to the fullest while fighting a fierce battle.
For as long as I’ve known Robyn, I’ve been amazed by the ways she has found to give back to the community despite any hardships she has faced--whether through volunteering in the community or teaching her son that birthdays are for giving instead of receiving. For years, young Jack has been choosing charities for his friends to donate to in lieu of birthday gifts. I found it hard to believe that right after learning of the details of her prognosis yesterday, Robyn was planning her schedule for the next day: getting up at 4 a.m. with Jack to volunteer at the Children’s Wish Breakfast (Langley BC) from 6-8 a.m., then heading of to work while Jack goes to school, and then finishing with a radiology consult to discuss treatment options. This description offers a perfect snapshot of who Robyn is, and it’s why I’d love to see her on the receiving end of our love.
